The Formby Fountain in Port Adelaide (1876) was funded by public donations to honour John Formby, the mayor who established the Port Adelaide Institute and the Sailors Home in Port Adelaide.
The decorative fountain features the Port Adelaide coat of arms with the wording ‘haud pluribus impa’ (second to none) along with the advice to ‘keep the pavement dry’.
A replica fountain, made when the original was damaged, is located in St Vincent Street outside the police station. The original is displayed at the Port Adelaide Historical Society Museum.t
